Dr. Abdulaziz Sager, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center (GRC), participated as a speaker in a panel session at the DohaForum @dohaforum titled ‘Asia and the GCC: A Deepening Partnership’ on December 10-11, 2023, in Doha.
The importance of this session stems from the shift in economic weight towards Asia that the world is witnessing and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries’ interest in deepening relations with the largest economies in Asia, including China, South Korea, Japan, and India. The session discussed relations between the two sides, with a particular focus on issues of regional security, energy, cooperation in the field of technology, and climate change.
The session also discussed the most promising collaboration methods amid a complex geopolitical landscape.
Participating in this session were His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Prof. Shuji Hosaka, Board Member of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) and Director of JIME Center – a unit of IEEJ, Dr. Nilanjan Ghosh, Director of the Observer Research Foundation, Prof. Wu Bingbing, Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Peking University, and moderated by Dr. Dania Thafer, Senior Fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs.
